The 30-year-old actress announced her departure from the ABC talk show on Oct.27 and her last appearance on the show will be later this year. Symoné has already started to phase out of this season of The View, only appearing once a week.

The spinoff of the hit show will continue the story of her character, Raven Baxter, from the popular sitcom.

In the new comedy, in which Symoné will serve as executive producer, Raven is now a divorced mother to two preteen kids, one of whom has inherited her ability to catch glimpses of the future. Disney Channel promises both “new and familiar characters.”

Casting for the two children is currently underway.

That’s So Raven, which ran from 2003 to 2007, was one of Disney Channel’s great successes, wrapping after 100 episodes. The original series, which marked the channel’s first multi-camera comedy, followed a teenage Raven, whose ability to see flashes of the future usually got her in trouble.

“Raven’s brilliant style of fearless comedy was a driving force for Disney Channel’s success around the world,” said Adam Bonnett, Executive VP Original Programming at Disney Channels Worldwide. “Her performance in That’s So Raven is timeless. We now have our eyes on the future with her, and we’re looking forward to telling more stories for a new generation with an adult Raven Baxter raising her young family.”

Last August, Symoné reunited with her That’s So Raven co-stars Anneliese van der Pol, Orlando Brown and Kyle Massey on The View, where the group reminisced about the success of the Disney Channel show.

The That’s So Raven spinoff is being developed by writing and producing partners Scott Thomas and Jed Elinoff, who most recently created Disney Channel’s Best Friends Whenever.
