The man accused of killing of Truro police officer Catherine Campbell is looking to get out on bail.
Christopher Garnier is charged with second-degree murder and indecently interfering with human remains.

Campbell was last seen alive on September 11, 2015. Her body was found five days later near the ramp to the MacDonald Bridge.

Garnier’s lawyer, Joel Pink, has filed a bail application on behalf of his client and says it wouldn’t be unusual for someone facing a murder charge to be released pending trial.
“Just this week, we saw that Mr.Oland got out, so why should not Mr. Garnier get out?,” Pink said. “We’ll let the judge decide that in due course.”

WATCH: Preliminary inquiry starts in alleged murder of Catherine Campbell
Dec. 19 and 20 have been set aside at Nova Scotia Supreme Court to hear the bail application.
Garnier’s jury trial is scheduled to get underway in November of 2017.
