VERNON, B.C. – A North Okanagan man who was arrested in June and charged in connection with four 2014 arson fires now faces 19 new arson charges.

William Munton, 55, is accused of setting fires between May 3 and Nov. 20, 2014, including the grandstand fire at the Kin Race Track in Vernon and an apple bin fire that caused damage estimated at $100,000.

Most of the charges are for arson damaging property, but two charges are for lighting fires to inhabited properties on Oct. 16, 2014.

Munton is expected in court Thursday morning for his first appearance on the new charges.

Back in June, Munton was arrested at a home in the 2000 block of 33 Street in Vernon following a two-year RCMP investigation.
