Abbotsford Police said they are investigating what appear to be human remains found in a rural area Saturday afternoon.
Authorities said a citizen located the remains in a wooded area on a rural property in the 30900 block of Downes Road around 2 p.m.
Patrol officers, Forensic Identfication members and Major Crime detectives were called to the scene.
Police said they are in the early stages of investigation and will release more information after further forensic work.
UPDATE: The case has now been taken over by the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT). They ask anyone with further information to contact IHIT at 1-877-551-4448, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
