WINNIPEG — Fire crews were kept busy battling a house fire in the Elmwood area Friday morning.
Around 5:30 a.m., crews were called on scene to the 500 block of Jamison Avenue for reports of heavy smoke.
When firefighters arrived, smoke could be seen billowing from the home. There wasn’t anyone home at the time.
Crews were able to knock down the fire on the main floor, but the blaze also spread to the attic. Because of the construction of the home, firefighters had a difficult time getting to the top floor.
However, crews were eventually able to get into the attic and are put out the blaze.
Platoon chief, Doug Martin said the owner of the home left for work this morning, but has returned and they are interviewing him.
No word on how the blaze started.
