Water and sewer construction is forcing a temporary change in the way drivers will access Saskatoon City Hospital.

Starting at 7 a.m. CT on Wednesday, the intersection of Queen Street and 7th Avenue North, along with Queen Street from 5th to 8th avenues will be closed to traffic.

A section of road between 5th and 6th will be open to allow access to the hospital parking lot.

Access to the emergency department on 5th Avenue will be maintained.

The restrictions should be lifted by 6 p.m. on Oct. 28, weather permitting and barring unforeseen circumstances.

City officials said drivers should obey detours, signs and barriers even if workers are not present.

This is the third phase of the Queen Street water main replacement project.

A date for the final phase – resurfacing of Queen Street from 2nd Avenue North to Spadina Crescent – has not been determined.
