Alberta man dies after gravel truck collides with pickup truck east of Grande Prairie

RCMP said a 76-year-old man died of his injuries after the pickup truck he was driving was involved in a crash near Bezanson, Alta. Monday afternoon.

According to police, officers were called to a two-vehicle collision on Highway 43 east of Range Road 41 at 12:37 p.m.

Mounties believe the pickup truck was moving slowly when a gravel truck travelling at “highway speed” crashed into it.

They said the pickup driver – from Debolt, Alta. – was the only person in the vehicle and was rushed to a nearby hospital where he later died. No other injuries were reported.

RCMP said their investigation into the crash is ongoing.

The scene of the crash was about a 20-minute drive northeast of Grande Prairie.
