Cyclist gets warning after collision with City of Saskatoon street-patching truck

The driver of a City of Saskatoon vehicle will not be charged after a collision with a man on a bike this past summer.

City officials said a legal review was completed and a Crown prosecutor has recommended no charges be laid against the operator of the street-patching truck.

On June 1, members of the fire department and police were called to the crash between the truck and a 20-year-old cyclist at the corner of Idylwyld Drive and 29th Street West.

The cyclist was treated in hospital for what were reported to be serious injuries.

Saskatoon police investigated and gave the cyclist a warning for driving without due care.

The truck operator returned to work in June.
