A 42-year-old man is facing two counts of murder following a double homicide that happened in Courtenay early Wednesday morning.
BC RCMP Cst. Rob Gardner said police responded to calls of a shooting in the 2300-block of Urquhart Avenue at 3:10 a.m. and found a man and a woman dead inside the home.
The man, who was taken to hospital with a self-inflicted gunshot injury, was arrested by police and is set to appear in Courtenay court on Oct. 11.
A second man was arrested at the scene and subsequently released from custody without a charge.
Gardner said the victims and suspects knew each another but did not say how they were connected.
It is unknown if the victims were owners or renters of the house.
An autopsy for the two victims is scheduled for later this week.
The investigation is on-going.
