Cyclists on the Jacques-Cartier Bridge are beholding a rare sight — pool noodles covering the scaffolding along the bridge’s bike path.
According to the company that manages the bridge, the noodles are the idea of a contractor working on setting up lights on the structure.

That’s being done in preparation for a $40-million effort to light up the Jacques-Cartier Bridge in celebration of the city’s 375th anniversary.
According to spokesperson Julie Paquet, the noodles fall within the budgeted expense and cost no additional money.
The padding is meant to offer cyclists some protection should they come into contact with the scaffolding.
The lights should be working by late May, the path is slated to close for the winter in late November.
