Republican Party accidentally declared Mike Pence a winner before VP debate began

It’s pretty obvious who the Republican National Committee would pick as the winner of Tuesday night’s vice-presidential debate.

So obvious, in fact, that they didn’t seem to feel the need to actually watch the debate to decide.

Before the debate even began, a post appeared on the RNC website GOP.com, declaring Republican vice-presidential candidate Mike Pence the winner, according to Vox.com.

“The consensus was clear after the dust settled, Mike Pence was the clear winner of the debate,” read the post.

It was quickly removed from the site, presumably to allow time to reflect on whether Pence did indeed defeat his Democratic opponent, Tim Kaine – perhaps by watching the debate. Who knows, the RNC may change its mind.
