Officers with the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) are investigating what is being described as a suspicious death after the lifeless body of a woman was discovered in Sorel Saturday morning.

SQ spokesperson Ronald Mc Innis said provincial police received a call about a person in distress at a residence on Hôtel-Dieu Avenue at around 7 a.m. ET.

Upon arrival, officers discovered the woman’s lifeless body. She is believed to be approximately 40 years old.
The cause of death is not yet known.
