UPDATE: Convicted murderer recaptured after escape from Saskatchewan Penitentiary
A man convicted of murder has escaped from the Saskatchewan Penitentiary in Prince Albert, federal corrections officials said Friday.
The Correctional Service of Canada said staff discovered that Roger Joseph Gillet, 64, was missing during the 10 a.m. count in the minimum security unit at the prison.

Gillet is described as 5’7” tall and weighs 179 pounds, with a fair complexion, brown eyes and grey hair. He has scars on his back and chin and tattoos on the abdomen, chin, upper right arm, and left arm.
He is currently servicing an indeterminate sentence for second-degree murder, forcible confinement, robbery, prison breach and escape lawful custody.
Officials say the Prince Albert Police Service and Prince Albert RCMP have been notified. A warrant for Gillet’s arrest has been issued.
Anyone with information on Gillet’s whereabouts is asked to contact police.
Gillet is the 14th prisoner to escape secure custody in the province in 2016.
