The claim points out that a company that runs community housing for seniors and people with disabilities did not usually receive many government grants — but during the time Lessard was in office between 2009 and 2012, it did.

Over the last two weeks, Lessard was also accused of approving government grants for a former employee and friend.

Members of the party pointed out the cases of former treasury board president Sam Hamad and former transport minister Jacques Daoust as examples.

“The people of Quebec demand that we have a high point of view of what it means to be a minister, of what it means to be a member of the National Assembly and the [premier] doesn’t understand where the people of Quebec stand,” said Agnes Maltais, an MNA with the PQ.

Liberal House leader Jean-Marc Fournier argued the opposition has crossed a line.

“[Lessard’s wife] is an employee of a charitable organization, no profit in your pocket, who worked for another organization who received the money. It’s not her company,” he said, slamming the door behind him as he walked away.

Lessard is in Toronto Wednesday for a meeting with other transport ministers.
