The Ministry of Social Services announced the grand opening of two programs in northern Saskatchewan on Tuesday in support of people experiencing disabilities.
A community-based day program and supported independent living program will provide supports for 12 people in La Ronge.

The provincial government provided $390,000 for the project.
Both programs will be operated by the non-profit organization North Sask Special Needs Housing, Employment, Recreation Inc. (NSN).
“North Sask Special Needs works in a collaborative team manner that enhances opportunities for vulnerable people in our tri-community group of participants,” said NSN executive director Deri-Ann Ratt.
“I am pleased to see the great work happening to support individuals experiencing disabilities here in northern Saskatchewan,” said Social Services Minister Tina Beaudry-Mellor.

NSN works to provide appropriate housing, meaningful employment and skill-building activities for people with special needs.
The ministry said its funding for 25 community-based organizations in northern Saskatchewan totals over $26.9 million in 2016-17.
