Simulating the 2012-13 Toronto Maple Leafs season

TORONTO – With the NHL lockout now running into what would have been the regular season, we at Global News have decided to give you the NHL hockey that you so dearly missed.

Well, the best we can.

Since none of us are professional hockey players, our own Rob Leth was given the responsibility to feed your ice-hockey appetite.

Rob will be simulating each and every game of the Toronto Maple Leafs 2012-2013 NHL regular season (barring an end to the lockout) on the Xbox 360 and providing updates here.

Who knows, maybe the Leafs will win the Stanley Cup. Or at least make the playoffs.

SATURDAY, JANUARY 5TH

TORONTO @ MONTREAL

The Toronto Maple Leafs were a listless bunch on Saturday losing in Montreal by a score of 3-0.

Travis Moen and Aaron Palushaj gave the Canadiens a quick 2-0 lead in the first period and after a scoreless second, Tomas Plekanec rounded out the scoring in the third.

Carey Price earned one of the easier shutouts of his career as the Montreal goalie was only forced to make 18 saves on the night.

James Reimer was the only Leaf to show any competitive spirit making 32 saves in a losing cause.

The loss snaps Toronto’s mini two-game winning streak as the team now heads home for a three-game homestand beginning with Alexander Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals on Monday night.

RECORD – 16-15-5, T8th in Eastern Conference
