RCMP were called to the scene at the 4000-block of Quarry Road in Coquitlam at around 6:30 a.m.

A body was found in the vicinity of the car. Investigators believe the death is suspicious. On Saturday, IHIT identified the victim as 39-year-old Jason Leigh Zellmer. Zellmer is a Surrey resident and police said the evidence gathered so far does not appear to be random. Investigators believe Zellmer met with “foul play” and died as a result of his injuries.

Police had the area around the crime scene cordoned off for “a significant amount of time.”

IHIT and RCMP are continuing to gather evidence and autopsy will be performed on Zellmer to determine the cause of death.

Anyone with information on the case should call the IHIT tipline at 1-877-551-4448 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
