For more than nine years, a dog named Holly has helped patrol the North Portal border crossing on Saskatchewan Highway 39.
Holly officially retired on Aug. 12. Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) said she leaves behind an impressive record, assisting in 216 seizures, and sniffing out guns and drugs in the province.
Holly, who is a detector dog, also won for three years in a row at the Canadian Police Canine Association Trials She will now spend her retirement with her former handler.
Firearms seized at border crossings throughout August
CBSA officers seized a number of firearms at Saskatchewan border crossings last month.

At the Regway border crossing, officers found an undeclared .45-calibre semi-automatic handgun while searching a semi-truck and trailer on Aug. 16.
The traveller was released with a recognizance order. CBSA said charges are pending.
Then on Aug. 21, two rifles and a shotgun, all undeclared, were seized from a Florida man’s pickup truck. He was detained and paid a $250 penalty to have the guns returned. He was sent back to the United States due to a prior conviction of vehicular homicide.
Over at the North Portal crossing, officers found seven overcapacity magazines, including five for a semi-automatic assault rifle, from a man moving to Alaska on Aug. 12.
On Aug. 22 at the North Portal crossing, officers seized a prohibited stun gun, which was wrapped in clothing, in the cab of a Missouri commercial driver. He paid a $500 penalty for failing to declare.
At the Monchy border on Aug. 21, officers seized a suspected cannabis chocolate bar from a man from California.
