Premier Christy Clark toured the new trades complex at Okanagan College on Thursday.

It marked the grand opening of the facility.

The expansion increases space at the college by 6,237 square metres, and cost around $33 million.

The province pledged $28 million of that cost back in 2012.

Additional funding came from industry and other donors.

In April, the college announced it had received $281,000 from the province to create more seats in trades programs considered “in-demand”.

Those programs include carpentry, plumbing, cooking and welding.
