Alberta army officer facing charges including sex assault

A Canadian Army officer in Alberta faces 22 criminal charges including sexual assault with a weapon.

Capt. Malcolm Grace, who is 45, is to appear in Wainwright provincial court on Thursday for a preliminary hearing.

The charges also include assault, unlawful confinement, overcoming resistance, pointing a firearm, uttering threats and other offences.

The identity of the person who made the complaint against Grace is protected by a publication ban.

Grace, a member of the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry, is a staff officer at the Canadian Manoeuvre Training Centre near Wainwright.

A military spokesman says after Grace was charged he was reassigned to a base in Edmonton.
