Investigators are trying to figure out what caused a house fire in Penticton Sunday morning.
The small blaze started in the ceiling above the basement inside a home on Kinney Avenue at McGraw Street.
“The occupants in the house reported smoke coming from the floorboards,” said fire inspector Ken Barbour. “It was quickly contained; the guys did a great job with overhaul there was minimal damage.”
According to fire officials there was a lot of smoke damage to the home. The homeowners told fire crews they had a lot of antiques stored in the basement, so there likely will be a lot of restoration work needed.
While investigators don’t know the exact cause, the fire is believed to be accidental.
