A 30-year-old Alberta man got his wish when he held up a sign saying “Keith Help Me Propose” at the sold-out Keith Urban show in Saskatoon on Saturday.

“He was behind me, because I was right in the front,” Jacob Cepeda’s now-fiancée Ashley Iftody told Global News Monday, explaining she couldn’t see the sign. “I didn’t know he was going to propose at all.

“I made it a joke in the past: if you’re ever going to propose, make sure Keith’s there.”

Urban saw the sign and brought Cepeda and his girlfriend of eight years on stage, where she said yes to his proposal.

“I saw Keith look down, but I didn’t know what he was looking at,” Iftoday said. “Then all of a sudden he was like, ‘OK, well, let’s do this.’ And I’m like, ‘uh what?'”

The 31-year-old Iftody has been an Urban super fan for years.

“[Urban] was so cute,” she said. “He made sure Jacob got on his knee because he was just standing there still. Then he did a little song, and I’m like, ‘don’t cry, don’t pass out.'”

The Edmonton couple travelled to Saskatoon to see Urban on Saturday because his concert in Edmonton sold out quickly.

Iftody said her husband-to-be acted like a superstar himself.

“He was terrified, but he was such a rock star. He was like, ‘thank you, Keith Urban!’ like a total rock star.”
