Over the last year the homeless shelter has seen a 23% increase in need. It serves 1200 meals every day.
“It is kind of sad that the numbers grow but its also a day of celebration that we can come together to a community at at least be thankful for what we have,” said Floyd Perras, the executive director of Siloam Mission.
More than 100 volunteers helped prepare the meal that used 400 pounds of potatoes and 150 turkeys.
“It’s a good feeling,” said Doris Davison, who has spent the last five years serving dinner at the shelter. “I know that people are not being hungry on Thanksgiving and it’s a day where everyone should enjoy turkey.”
