Residents are demanding answers after a three day power outage has affected two Minto Quantum condos in the Yonge and Eglinton area.

The outage happened Friday morning after a watermain break flooded the buildings’ hydro vault.

Annie Wilkin, a resident in the building, said this isn’t the first time an outage like this has happened.

“The last one was just a couple weeks ago and supposedly they fixed it and the exact same thing happened,” she said.

Wilkin said residents are now considering legal action.

“I think right now there is talk of suing the city. I really hope that happens, because I think it’s ridiculous. We shouldn’t have to live this way.”

Councillor Josh Matlow called the outages “unacceptable” in a statement to Global News.

“Everyone’s priority has been to get the power back on as fast as possible. It is unacceptable that Minto residents have been left in the dark for the second time this summer,” Matlow said.

“To ensure these issues don’t continue, building management and Toronto Water must both work to find long term solutions.”

Global News contacted Toronto Water, but they were unavailable for comment Sunday.

“We are all feeling a little antsy about it,” resident Matt Gallagher said.

“We pay a lot of money to live here and we feel like we are living in the 18th century right now, so it’s a little frustrating.”

An email sent to residents from the condo’s property manager obtained by Global News said full power is estimated to return between 8 p.m. Sunday and 10 a.m. Monday morning.
