Recent comments from B.C. Green Party leader Andrew Weaver suggest the party may change its name to fully separate itself from its federal counterpart.
“There is a movement within our [B.C.] party to change our name after the next B.C. election,” Andrew Weaver wrote on The Tyee website, adding that his party will not be “hijacked by extremist fringe elements.”
The spat relates to an ongoing controversy within the national party after a resolution passed advocating for a boycott of Israel over its human rights record.
Federal leader Elizabeth May opposed the decision and is trying to have it overturned.
