Members of the Calgary Fire Department joined together at a public memorial Tuesday to remember fallen firefighters.
Calgary has lost 43 firefighters in the line of duty; nine during active firefighting and 34 due to illness related to firefighting.
The 2016 Fallen Firefighters Memorial was held in Tribute Plaza in front of the Municipal Building on Macleod Trail at noon.
It was preceded by a march down Stephen Avenue beginning at 11 a.m.
