The trial for a Calgary couple accused of killing their teenaged son ended as quickly as it began Monday.
Emil and Rodica Radita are accused of first-degree murder for the death of Alex Radita.

The defence for the accused told court Monday they are waiting to speak to a possible under-aged witness and asked to have the case adjourned until Tuesday.
“We do plan to speak to one of the potential witnesses who’s underage,” defence lawyer Andrea Serink said. “She has a care team working with her and they’ve advised that she won’t be ready until (Tuesday) morning.”
At that time, they will decide if they will call evidence.
The trial began in June but had to break following the Crown’s case, as it took longer than expected.

Parents plead not guilty in the first degree murder of teenage son
Fifteen-year-old Alex weighed just 37 pounds when he was found dead in his parents’ northwest Calgary home May 7, 2013.
An autopsy revealed Alex died from a bacterial sepsis (Staphyloccus Aureus) from complications of neglect and starvation.
He was found wearing only a T-shirt and a diaper at the time of his death and was covered in ulcers.
Alex’s body was filled with infection and had bacteria everywhere from his kidneys to his adrenal glands, his spleen and blood stream.
The trial is scheduled to continue all week.
