The Labour Day long weekend marks the first time Ribfest made its way to Lethbridge and locals apparently loved it.
The travelling food show specializes in ribs, barbecue chicken, pulled pork and sides.
“I like the smokiness and I just like the idea that we get to come and just enjoy them for a decent price,” Hamish Forbes said.
People devoured ribs, licked their fingers and got messy faces over the weekend.

“I would say they love their ribs, big barbecue chicken, pulled pork – everything,” festival director Les Gagne said.
Organizers say thousands of ribs are cooked up everyday. At times over the four-day festival, vendors were running out of stock.
“Lethbridge really stepped up here, it’s been busy all day and you really can’t ask for anything more than that,” volunteer Bill Ponech said.
The hope is, rib eaters have enough room to try a few and pick a favourite so they have something to look forward to every year.
“Just like you go see your favourite band on tour, we think that people are going to want to go to Ribfest throughout the province of Alberta,” Gagne said.
Gagne is hoping to bring back Ribfest and their barbecue-sauce-covered deliciousness next year and give Lethbridge an annual spot on the tour.
