BOWMANVILLE, Ont. – Police allege a man who was acting as power of attorney for an elderly Bowmanville, Ont., woman stole more than $120,000 from her bank accounts over a six-year period.
Durham Regional Police say the accused was given access to the bank accounts of a family friend in May 2009 as the woman was in her late 80s and not able to make her own financial decisions.
They say she was admitted to a long-term care facility by the accused.
