Fort Saskatchewan RCMP were called to a fatal collision north of Lamont Friday morning.
It happened on Highway 831, between Township Road 562 and 564.
RCMP said two vehicles were involved in the crash, although exact details of what happened are not known.
Police said one person died in the collision, whose identity is not being released at this time.
Another person was taken to hospital with unknown injuries.
Highway 831 was closed to traffic for several hours Friday morning and was reopened by 11:20 a.m.

Police continue to investigate to determine if drugs, alcohol or speed were factors in the crash.
The collision happened about 120 kilometres northeast of Edmonton.
