“We heard on the VHF channel that somebody had found a woman floating on what seemed to be a cushion. Around 8 a.m. we saw the first helicopter, around 8:30-9 a.m. we saw two boats coming in from the coast guard,” said fisherman, Jacques Robichaud.
The woman was rescued, but their dog drowned.
The man still has not been located.
Two helicopters dispatched by the Halifax Rescue Coordination Centre, two coast guard ships and two auxiliary vessels are involved in the massive search effort.
The crews will continue to search a wide area of the Baie de Saint-Louis near Kouchibouguac park.
