At city hall, a book of condolences has been placed outside the mayor’s office to allow people to pay their respects.
Rose Taylor was among those to sign the book and says she held Wayne in high regard.
“She was a good person,” Taylor said.
“You’d always see her at anything that had to do with Saint John. She never let the people down. She was always wanting to get more for Saint John. She put Saint John on the map I think. I think that she was the best mayor that we’ve ever had.”
Wayne’s funeral will be held Saturday morning at 11 at Rivercross Church in Saint John.
