Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor has finally spoken out about the time he smacked a cellphone out of a fan’s hand at a concert.

When asked by the Las Vegas Review-Journal for his personal take of the connectivity/disconnectivity of cellphone usage, Taylor responded: “You watch people walk down the street, and they can’t get their beaks out of their stupid phones to cross the street.”

“I love watching people get buried in their tiny little technological worlds, and then reality comes and smacks them in the face,” Taylor revealed.

The frontman said he “doesn’t mind people who take pictures or people who shoot a video.” He loves that because “you’re still engaged in the show.”

“A lot of people get the wrong idea, they think that if I just see someone on their phone, I’m trying to rage quit their fun. I’m not trying to do that at all,” Taylor said.

The heavy metal band lyricist continued: “But if I see someone, and it’s so obvious they’re not even there, you’ve got to poke them with a stick to get their attention sometimes. Sometimes that means smacking the phone out of their hands. You can hate me all you want. It’s not going to stop me from smacking those things out of people’s hands.”

The incident in question happened in July. At the time, Taylor only said “If you’re gonna text, stay home.”

In August, Taylor had another fan thrown out of one of the band’s concerts at the Concord Pavilion in Concord, Calif., but for unknown reasons.

In the video clip (starts at the 3:02 mark), you can hear Taylor pause Psychosocial to yell things like, “Get him the f**k out of here. Get him the f**k out. That guy with the glasses.”

Others at the show were unable to determine why Taylor had the concert-goer ejected.

He later responded to the incident with a tweet.

“The guy was throwing elbows into people’s faces on the barricade,” Taylor explained.

The 42-year-old musician also made headlines last month for having a Slipknot fan removed from the band’s show in Toronto at the Air Canada Centre.

Video footage shot by a fan showed Taylor pointing at someone in the crowd and saying into his microphone, “You don’t show me sh*t, you little pu**y.” Within 15 seconds, security appeared and escorted the concert goer out, with Taylor waving and saying, “Bye bye, b*tch.”

Taylor later explained to a New York radio station that the person in Toronto was “showing some serious disrespect.”

Slipknot is currently on the road with Marilyn Manson for their 2016 summer tour, which continues in Dallas, Texas on Aug. 25.
