Severe thunderstorm watch for parts of Saskatchewan

Environment Canada issues severe thunderstorm watch for Prince Albert, Sask., west to the Alberta border. SkyTracker Weather

Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch in Saskatchewan for Prince Albert, the Battlefords, Meadow Lake and the surrounding regions.

The agency said conditions are favourable for the development of scattered storms Monday afternoon that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts and large hail.

The reason is a low pressure system centred in Alberta.

Severe thunderstorm watches are issued by Environment Canada when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that can produce large hail, damaging winds and/or torrential rainfall.

A warm-up Monday to enjoy before unsettled thunderstorms reach Saskatoon on Tuesday. The rest of you work week is filled with seasonal temperatures and a sun-cloud mix.

Mainly sunny. High 27, but it’ll feel more like 30 with humidex. Wind southwest at 20 km/h becoming southwest around noon.
