Gatenby’s younger brother Danny, a Rockets prospect, was also dealt to Kamloops.

“We have an abundance of defencemen and we had an opportunity to get a high-end 1998-born forward which is a spot we had some room,” said Rockets president/general manager Bruce Hamilton in a news release. “We wish Joe and Danny well in Kamloops and we are looking forward to Jake joining our hockey club immediately.”
