North Vancouver RCMP are investigating after vandals broke into a new home and poured out more than 15 pails of paint in the interior.
The damage is estimated to be more than $80,000.
The vandals poured paint on appliances, counter tops, hardwood floors, toilets, into the fridge, on the walls and on the carpeted stairs.
The home, located on Mackay Avenue, was only a week away from being move-in ready.
Mounties believe the vandals broke into the home sometime during the night of Aug. 15.
This appears to be a break and enter with intentional malicious willful damage displaying a total disregard for someone’s personal property,
said Cpl. Richard De Jong of the North Vancouver RCMP. Someone out there will have paint on themselves from throwing that much paint around and likely will be boasting about their criminal behaviour to someone.
Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the culprit in this crime. Anyone with information can contact the North Vancouver RCMP at 604-985-1311 or through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or at www.solvecrime.ca, referencing police file # 2016-21047.
