2 charged following an assault and crash in Saskatoon

Two people have been charged after three men fleeing the scene of an assault in Saskatoon ended up in a crash, sending a woman to hospital for treatment.

Police were initially called out to a disturbance at around 1 p.m. CT Monday in the 3800-block of Fairlight Drive.

There were reports of a verbal altercation taking place outside of an apartment building and concerns it could turn violent.

Responding officers learned that three men, who had already fled, had allegedly entered an apartment and proceeded to verbally and physically assault someone.

The altercation then moved outside, where a resident of the apartment deployed bear mace.

The three men then took off in a vehicle that ended up being involved in a crash at the intersection of Diefenbaker and Laurier.

The driver fled the crash scene but was later located.

A woman was taken to hospital as a result of the collision. There is no word on her current condition.

A 27-year-old man has been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, hit and run, and breach of recognizance.

A 17-year-old is charged with two counts of assault and spraying bear mace in a public place.
