Severe weather moves through southern Manitoba

Thunderstorm moves towards Winnipeg Monday afternoon. Global News

A number of severe thunderstorm warnings and watches were issued by Environment Canada for much of southern Manitoba Monday afternoon.

The storms are expected to be capable of producing very strong wind gusts, up to nickel size hail and heavy rain.

The cluster of thunderstorms is moving to the east across southern Manitoba at approximately 40 km/h.

Environment Canada warns that large hail can cause injury, damage property and strong wind gusts can be dangerous by tossing loose objects and damaging buildings.

Conditions are not expected to escalate into tornado watches or warnings.
