WINNIPEG – Attendance at the second edition of the annual Interstellar Rodeo music festival is up by around 50 per cent from last year, according to organizers.
While the final numbers aren’t in yet, there was more than double the number of people at the event on Friday compared to last year.
“It takes a bit of time to build the awareness of a new festival and so the first year our expectations were reasonable and we met them, we figured there would be some group but we’re really impressed with how Winnipeggers have responded,” said festival producer Sara Stasiuk.

The only major changes to the event from last year was adding a video screen so people farther away from the stage could see and adding more water stations.
More than 20 artists performed at the three-day event.
“We have a mix of American, Canadian. We have one person from the UK today, many of these people haven’t played in Winnipeg and a couple of them not in Canada before so there’s been some artists that’s their first time so that’s always exciting,” said Stasiuk.
