RCMP in the central Alberta town of Didsbury provided few details related to what appeared to be a standoff at a residence Friday afternoon.
“The Didsbury RCMP is currently conducting an investigation in the 1700 block of 14 Street in the Town of Didsbury,” police said in a statement just after 4:30 p.m. “The public should be aware that 14 Street is partially blocked off in the 1700 block area and is asked to detour around this location.”
A source told Global News the call came in as a weapons complaint.
Neighbours said the people who live in the home have been there for about a month-and-a-half, during which time RCMP officers have been called six times.
One neighbour said he’d seen an assault rifle being openly carried from the house to a car.
Requests for more details from RCMP went unanswered by publication time.
