UPDATE: Warman RCMP corporal pleads guilty to assault

A Warman RCMP officer is facing charges in relation to alleged altercations of two youth in police custody.

At 1:40 a.m. CT on Feb. 24, officers were called to a complaint of a suspicious man going through vehicles in Warman, Sask.

When they arrived to investigate, they saw two people running away from the area. The two youth were taken into custody.

According to a media release from Saskatchewan RCMP, further investigation revealed two separate altercations occurred between one of its on-duty members and the two youth shortly after the arrest.

Cpl. Dean Flaman was arrested on Tuesday and charged with two counts of assault. He was released and is scheduled to appear in Saskatoon provincial court on Sept. 14.

Flaman is currently suspended with pay. He has been a member of RCMP for 15 years.

Officials said a code of conduct investigation has been launched.
