Rutland Park Society removes president – Aug 10, 2016

KELOWNA, B.C. – An interim board made up of six volunteers were nominated to carry the Rutland Park Society to its AGM this October following the removal of long time president Todd Sanderson.

Accusations have been hurled in all directions in the last year between board members, resulting in several resignations.

Sanderson was a no-show at Tuesday evenings meeting at the Rutland Centennial Hall and could not be reached for comment following the vote to remove him as president.

About 100 people came out to attempt to re-organize the Society, with obvious frustration over the lack of trust in the current leadership.

The Society runs the Rutland Centennial Hall alone following the sale of the park surrounding the facility to the City of Kelowna in recent years.

Controversy has dogged the board since as they looked to spend the sale proceeds on renovations that some believed were unwarranted.
