Conrad Hewitt is one of the youngest candidates to run in Regina’s upcoming civic election.
He recently finished high school and had just started studies at the University of Regina. This is his first time running for political office. He’s running in Ward one, hoping to replace outgoing councilor Louis Browne.
Hewitt has spent most of his life in the community, and while he’s only 18 years old, he is touting his young age as a benefit to voters.

“I think I can bring a fresh perspective and a new point of view that an experienced person wouldn’t be able to provide,” Hewitt said.
Hewitt wants council to be more transparent, especially when it comes to how it has handled plans for the new stadium.
“I think if they just opened it up, let people have their say, take that say and put it towards a project, people would be more receptive, and that’s what I’d like to see,” Hewitt said.
He still has a long way to go, but with the majority of the campaigning still ahead, he’s hopeful he can build name recognition, and earn an election win.
“I think anybody has as good of a chance as the amount of work they’re willing to put into it. And with that in mind, I think I’ve got a good chance,” he said.
