Man’s body recovered from Rivière des Prairies

The body of a man in his 20s was pulled from the waters of the Rivière des Prairies, not far from the Parc de l’Île-de-la-Visitation nature reserve and near the Papineau Bridge.

Passersby saw the body floating on the water and called police at around 9:30 a.m. Saturday.

Montreal firefighters were called in to help retrieve the body.

Jean-Pierre Brabant, spokesperson for Montreal police, said that there were no apparent marks of violence on the body.

An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death and confirm the man’s identity.
