Sûreté du Québec (SQ) officers are investigating the death of a 56-year-old man in Saint-Eustache. The death which was considered suspicious, has now been deemed a homicide.
Local police officers were called to a residence on Landry Street at 1:50 a.m. Sunday.
“The victim himself called police asking for medical assistance,” SQ Sgt. Daniel Thibodeau said.
When officers arrived at the scene they found the victim on the property in cardiac arrest.
“The officers began performing CPR,” Thibodeau said. “He was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced deceased.”
According to Thibodeau, the man bore marks of violence on his body.
“His injuries were consistent with those caused by an edge weapon,” he said.
Investigators are canvassing the area to shed some light on the circumstances leading to the man’s death.
