Police say one person escaped with minor injuries in a fiery chain-reaction crash on the QEW that saw a tractor-trailer gutted by flames.
The crash happened at around 4:13 p.m. Thursday in the eastbound lanes of the highway at Fruitland Road in Hamilton.
Provincial police Sgt. Kerry Schmidt said a mechanical failure caused a truck to veer into a tractor-trailer, which then hit a pickup truck and the barrier before bursting into flames.

He said while there were three people involved in the crash, only one suffered minor injuries.
The collision closed several lanes of the highway and the roadway may need to be resurfaced.
