A “pup-up” café is opening in Vancouver on Friday, hoping to help find some dogs a new home.
Catching the city’s popular cat café by its tail, the dog café is being set up by the B.C. SPCA at TAXI Cafe from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Aug. 5.
The paw-some initiative – formerly named “Cups & Pups” – aims to show potential adopters the kinds of canines currently looking for a fur-ever home.
“With the goal of educating potential adopters about some of the amazing animals we have at B.C. SPCA shelters – not only in the Lower Mainland but also, throughout the entire province – Cups & Pups allows people to meet with just some of the wonderful animals in BC SPCA care,” said Tess Repenning from the B.C. SPCA in a release.
It will cost $10 for entry into the café, and coffee is available by donation.

For anyone looking to adopt, the event is barking up the right tree.
“You’ll get your caffeine fix and canine love, all while supporting a fantastic cause. Even if you’re not looking to adopt, it’s a fantastic opportunity to spend your lunch hour having fun with some lovable, four-legged furballs,” added Repenning.
The café is located inside the lobby of the TAXI ad agency at 515 Richards St., Vancouver.
