A small fire in the passenger’s seat of a car, parked on a residential street in Vernon, is being considered suspicious.

“The location of the fire, the nature of it. It shouldn’t have caught on fire where it did so therefore we notified RCMP and they are looking into it further,” said Jack Blair with Vernon Fire Rescue Services.

Fire officials say a neighbour in the 3800 block of 28 Street noticed the blaze just before 5:00 a.m. Wednesday morning and called 911.

The owner of the car was able to put out the flames before fire fighters arrived.

However, fire officials say the limited damage is not repairable.

The vehicle has since been towed to a impound yard for further investigation.
