Rehabilitation work on McKnight Boulevard is expected to cause major delays for Calgary drivers.
The bridge work, which began on Tuesday, will result in lane and speed disruptions in both directions.
Major delays are expected near the bridge on McKnight Boulevard and Deerfoot Trail.
During construction, speed limits will be reduced to 50 km/h.
In addition, two lanes of westbound McKnight Boulevard will be open, but only one eastbound lane will be accessible for traffic approaching the bridge.
The City of Calgary said the project was designed to cause the shortest duration of traffic disruption, but some impact on traffic is “unavoidable.”
Crews will be working days and nights, seven days a week until the work is complete in late September.
