WINNIPEG — It may look like a muddy mess, but after being closed for a few weeks the riverwalk near the Forks is almost open.
City crews are starting to clean the riverwalk after the river dropped from the path.
“The city’s portion of the riverwalk was closed due to the rains in Manitoba and Saskatchewan causing the Assiniboine River to rise and flood the walkway,” said Lisa Fraser, Communications Officer with the City of Winnipeg.
Weather permitting, the riverwalk should be open later this week, Fraser said.
The portion of the path in the port area at The Forks is open to the public.
